As of Monday, January 12, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has officially assumed responsibility for the Jasper County Detention Center. This transition allows the JCSO to ensure the facility meets required standards while strengthening accountability and oversight.

This morning, Sheriff Malphrus swore in the existing detention officers as JCSO deputies, marking the first step in integrating the Detention Center into Sheriff’s Office operations. Moving forward, efforts will focus on improving staffing, addressing facility needs, and prioritizing the safety and well-being of both staff and inmates.
